Anker Beats Apple With A Magsafe Battery For Your iPhone 12 Series

The iPhone 12 MagSafe technologies not only makes charging much easier, additionally, it permits practical add-ons that are able to be connected magnetically to the smartphones without the need of employing a cover or case. Probably the most desired of these accessories is a carry around charger, and it looks like Anker?s likely to get one ready for sale before Apple can.

PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless Power Bank

Only a couple of days back, Bloomberg cited unnamed sources within a news piece that made claims Apple were working on an update to the Battery Covers that removes the cover altogether. Instead, the new Smart Battery securely attaches directly to the back side of the Apple iPhone 12 utilizing MagSafe magnets, when providing a charge employing wi-fi induction know-how.

Why it has taken so long to appreciate an accessory that seemed like a clear unit to launch along with the brand new Apple iPhone 12 series when the device was originally launched last year is not known, however Apple has a record with remaining extremely cautious with charging components, remember the power adapter recalls, battery replacements in the iPhones and Macbooks, and not long ago completely cancelling the AirPower charging mat it had announced at a function.

PowerCore Magnetic Wireless Power Bank

PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless PowerBank

The possible explanations are for Apple not having a MagSafe battery ready might be moot, as commencing on 3rd March, the company Anker will begin shipping their MagSafe batteries. The company’s PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless PowerBank features a 5000 mAh battery, this is bigger compared to the standard batteries built into Apple’s iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12, and yes even Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max, wireless charging is not as energy efficient as charging via a cable is. So, Anker reports their MagSafe power bank will only charge the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 and the bigger iPhone 12 Pro Max up to 95%, 97%, and 75% of the maximum battery capacities, respectively. It is able to, however, fully recharge your dead iPhone 12 Mini, and have some power to charge.
The Anker PowerCore PowerBank is able to be recharged utilizing a USB Type C charger. It does not appear that you are able to plop it down on Qi charging cradle to charge it, and because it is not a Apple certified MagSafe unit (it’s only labelled as MagSafe-compatible) that can potentially charge at rates all the way to 15W, this magnetic power bank is limited at 7.5 watts. It is a minor disadvantage, however it is a drawback nonetheless.

Should Apple releases its MagSafe battery pack, it’ll probably support the fastest MagSafe charging speeds, but just like all of Apple’s accessories, the powerbank most likely will not be a low cost item. Regardless of the limited charging speed nearly equal to the speed of charge of the small power adapters that the company used to supply with its phones, Anler’s PowerCore Magnetic Wireless Power Bank is going to be available when it arrives next week. That might be probably the most compelling excuse not to wait for Apple’s version.

iPhone 12 Case For Gaming

Razer’s Arctech Pro Cover

The iPhone 12 is a versatile smartphone, and because of this you?ll be able to play Fortnite Pokemon Go & Genshin Impact without lag to drag down your gaming session. However even the most powerful smartphone in the world can still overheat when used heavily.

This is where the Arctech Pro iPhone 12 case is king. It has not two but three layers of cooling technology to prevent CPU shut down, plus the standard bump protection that you would want to see in any quality phone case. The Razer Arctech Pro iPhone 12 case is wireless charging compatible. This cover works well with wireless chargers.

Three Metre Drop Protection

As far as protection is concerned, the Arctech Pro case provides Certified 10ft/3m Drop Protection. The Razer Arctech Pro does feel rugged, tough & thick enough. I would trust it to protect a phone if you happen to drop it from three metre heights or lower.

Please feel free to come and see us at Redlands iPhone Cases to check out these eco-friendly cases and all our other iPhone cases.

MagSafe

One unfortunate similarity between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro is battery life. The phones give passable battery performance, yet represent a rung down from last year’s iPhones. I’ve generally been getting around four and a half hours of usage per charge using 4G, 5G as well as WiFi. Now, that only a day’s usage, with very little buffer. In comparison, I could easily get nearly a day’s usage from both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone XR. Getting a day’s usage is fine, but it would have good if there was a wider safety net especially on those days where there is heavy usage.

And speaking of charging, Apple has gone with a rather interesting decision to stop bundling power bricks and earbuds with phones because of environmental reasons. All you’ll get included in the box, other than your iPhone – is a USB-C to Lightning cord. I don’t believe it’s a big deal. Apple’s Earpods are not good, and most people have a power adaptor. And the only tricky thing is the selection of cable. You’ll need to have a adaptor with a USB_C port to use the cord (or a computer) but if you’re coming from an iPhone 11, the iPhone power brick will be made with a full-sized USB connector.
Yet you may utilise the current cable and charger, however you’ll not see the the fast charging times that your iPhone 12 is capable of. If you desire to pick up a USB-C charging adaptor, you will be looking at $40 to buy one of these.

MagSafe Utilises Magnets

and of course, Apple now now has a new wireless charging protocol called MagSafe. This system consists of a circular shaped wireless charger that will magnetically snaps onto the back of an MagSafe compatible iPhone. And this provides optimal alignment to get the fastest wireless charging, and it also means that you can use your phone as it is juicing and you simply can’t with a non MagSafe charger. You’ll able to get a quicker top up with a wired charger, however MagSafe will take the iPhone 12 from flat up to 40% over about thirty minutes.
And purchasing MagSafe is going to cost you. You will have to spend $64.99 just for the charger itself, and $28.99 should you need a USB-C brick. And if you need the magnets to snap to your cover, you will also need a MagSafe cover. A MagSafe charger can charge through most cases, but it will not stick to it. Apple’s MagSafe covers are priced from $80.
While there are aspects of MagSafe that are proprietary, it still works as a regular old wireless charger that’s compatible with any device that uses it. The charge will be will not be as quick. Currently, MagSafe is a new, fun but somewhat expensive accessory, and I am curious in seeing where the system will lead.
As the majority of people don’t have a MagSafe charger at their disposal, there sure is definitely a lot of potential for MagSafe accessories like vehicle mounts where MagSafe will prove beneficial.

Samsung Reduces Phone Manufacturing Through The Month Of April As Demand Falls Off

According to a recent article in the tech source The Elec announces Samsung will scale back production from about 25 million handsets a month to 10 million units in the month of April. This outlet quotes an un-named source to propose that the current lockdowns due to Covid-19 and the halting of production facilities in India as well as in the country of Brazil were the main causes for this reduction.
They believes production would be normalized through the month of May when the India and Brazil plants resume manufacturing. However, given that this lockdown has already been lengthened in India till May 3rd as well as knowing that Covid-19 cases unfortunately are rising in these two countries, the anticipated return to normal may yet be longer than what the company hopes.
However, there is also a silver lining for the Korean tech giant. Their sales projections of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra are outperforming market predictions with sales expected to beat 6 million handsets through the year as against the anticipated sales of about 3.5 to 5.25 million devices.

Your Phone Probably Won’t Give You Coronavirus, But Here’s How to Clean It Anyway

You aren’t likely to get coronavirus from personal tech devices you don’t share with others, but cleaning them is still a good idea.

As governments, event organizers, and businesses have ramped up their response to the Coronavirus, now officially deemed a pandemic by the World Health Organization, normal people have responded in a lot of different ways. Some of these, like sharing hand-washing memes and stocking up on hand-sanitizer (even when it’s crazy expensive), make a lot of sense. Others, like the celebrity hazmat suit craze and the run on perishable oat milk, boggle the mind.

So, where on this spectrum from common sense, science-backed preventative measures to pure insanity does constantly stressing out about your germed-up your phone fall? If Google Trends is any indication, a lot of folks are curious.

It’s no secret that our phones are cesspools of bacteria. But according to experts on infectious diseases, when it comes to Coronavirus, they really aren’t the biggest risks.

“The likely contamination [of Coronavirus] from someone else to your personal device is low,” explains Dr. Jack Caravanos, a Clinical Professor of Global and Environmental Health at the NYU School of Global Public Health. Caravanos says it’s unlikely that any of us will get Coronavirus from personal items, like our phones, laptops, and keys.

“Other people don’t use your phone. Touching your phone only puts you at risk, if you’re already contaminated or if you touch something that’s contaminated and then you infect it that way,” he says. “But that’s sort of on the low scale.” It’s far more important, he notes, to pay attention to anything that is shared. “Whether it’s a doorknob, a toilet handle, a tray table at an airport, or something like a remote control, which we share in a family all the time, those are the critical items.”

Out of an abundance of caution (and because Coronavirus isn’t the only thing that can live on a touch screen), it’s still probably not a bad idea to clean your personal tech. And the best way to do that is with a disinfectant wipe (most are currently out of stock, so you’ll need to purchase them in person at the grocery store). In fact, Apple recently confirmed that using a disinfectant wipe is perfectly fine on any of its phones, tablets, or computers. The following now appears atop Apple’s support page on cleaning your phone: “Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the exterior surfaces of your iPhone. Don’t use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any openings, and don’t submerge your iPhone in any cleaning agents.”

Safe to say there shouldn’t be any risk in doing this on your other devices as well. “Once a day, at most, is probably good enough,” said Caravanos.

As long as you’re also following the guidelines set by the WHO—washing your hands and using hand-sanitizer whenever you might come into contact with a public surface, trying to generally keep at a distance from others, avoiding touching your face, and calling your doctor if you feel like you have symptoms—disinfecting your phone is another smart step you can take.

iPhone 11, A Modern, Well Made Smart Phone

iPhone 11

The design of the iPhone 11 has not received so many changes compared to the XR. The same glass and aluminium, the same thickness of the stroke around the screen, which is still noticeably thicker than the Pro version.

Except that the water resistance has improved – the iPhone can be immersed for half an hour in water to a depth of teo meters.

There are noticeable changes only on the back cover: an enlarged camera unit, a logo that moved closer to the center, a missing iPhone inscription and glossy glass – look the same as in the XR.

iPhone 11 and iPhone XR Cameras

The display also remained unchanged. This is the LCD screen that Apple calls Liquid Retina. It knows how to adapt to the surrounding lighting and supports Haptic Touch – tactile feedback with a long press on the screen. The design of the iPhone 11 has not received so many changes compared to the XR.

Except that the water resistance has improved – the iPhone can be immersed for half an hour in water to a depth of 2 meters.

Cameras

As already noted, the iPhone 11 has two rear cameras: wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle, while in XR there was only one. In addition, new program modes have appeared in the new iPhone: the main one is night mode. We took comparative shots on the iPhone 11 and XR.

The iPhone camera, like a year ago, is good in the light and acceptable at dusk. With the current parameters of the module, this is a clear ceiling, and Apple reached it a few years ago. It is very good that the company understands this and improves the software. However, all the “charms” of digital image enhancement, such as sharping on wires, foliage and grass, are still visible to the experienced eye. The sensor and optics are simply not able to resolve such small details, so the program simply draws them. From far away it looks believable.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard Apple tried to promote its cameras, it has long been clear to everyone that they won’t replace full-fledged cameras. Well, maybe on instagram. The camera in the smartphone is still a nice bonus, not a professional tool, and there is no point in demanding masterpiece results from it, at least in technical terms. But all sorts of artistic gadgets – it is still interesting.

Autonomous Work and Heating

We used the iPhone 11 for several days in normal mode, exploiting it precisely as the main smartphone. The result is very encouraging: for two days he lives quite well. The best thing is to charge it once every two nights. That is, you charge it, use it during the day, at night it is without charging, use it the next day, come home in the evening and put it on charge until the next morning. Over time, this figure will deteriorate, but still it is very, very good.

The test results of battery life in different modes with a screen brightness of 100 cd / m² are presented in the table.

We tested the iPhone 11 in only one of these modes – in 3D games. And there he had a result of 5 hours 25 minutes. Thus, the new iPhone is almost twice as economical in this mode! Excellent!

Sound: Stereo with Dolby Atmos

One of the novelties of this year’s iPhone was the Dolby Atmos sound. As Apple says on its website, with this improvement “Sound circulates around you in a 3D space. You will feel at the center of the action.” Is it really like that? Well, it true that the sound acquires a slight atmospheric effect, but from there to talk about surround sound there is a stretch.

The main speaker is located on one of the grilles on the bottom edge, the one to the right of the Lightning port. This is the one with the highest volume, while the secondary, located in the handset that we found in the notch, has a lower volume. The combination of both gives us that atmospheric effect of which he spoke. This works exceptionally well with quality bluetooth speakers and headphones.

Screen: Repeating A Somewhat Familiar Formula, But One That Works

We have already seen that the iPhone 11 repeats size and weight, but there is not everything left. It also repeats with the same screen, a 6.1-inch IPS with resolution 1,792 x 828 pixels. This configuration gives us a concentration of 326 pixels per inch, the density that Apple baptized as ‘Retina’ with the iPhone 4. Currently, the iPhone 11 Pro has a density of 458 points per inch, but the base model is still in 2010 figures.

Findings

iPhone 11 is a decent quality model, the most interesting of the new line in terms of price and features. The main thing is that there is a night mode for taking photos, like the Pro models, and there is an ultra-wide-angle camera (in addition to the main wide-angle). Yes, there is no third camera – with a telephoto lens. And in the kit there is no charger with increased power. But this, perhaps, is a list of obvious differences from senior comrades and is exhausted (plus, of course, the screen). The iPhone range keeps being improved by Apple.

Otherwise, everything here is at the highest level. For example, almost 4 GB of RAM, like the Pro models (whereas in the previous generation the iPhone Xr was inferior to the Xs / Xs Max models in this parameter), the same processor … Note the increased battery life, especially in high-load modes. Apparently, the new SoC is really more energy efficient.

iPhone 11 Cases

We have a large range of cases for the iPhone 11, everything from ultra thin cases to heavy duty cases. We have a full line of clear plastic, silicone, and leather cases that will fit your new iPhone 11 perfectly.

iPhone 11 Case

Yes there are many types of cases that are available for your iPhone 11, however the majority of them are cheap and come from companies that you have never heard of. They may not exist in six months time.

We stand behind Redlands iPhone Cases as we buy from quality manufacturers and reputable retailers.

Otterbox Cases For iPhones

Are you looking for the right Otterbox case for your iPhone particularly the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, or Pro Max? Will it be the Otterbox Commuter, the Otterbox Strada, the Otterbox Symmetry, the Otterbox Clear Symmetry, Otterbox Defender, or Otterbox Defender Pro? Wow who knew Otterbox has so many options? And what are they exactly?

OtterBox Defender

We love the Otterbox Defender. It has been around for seven years there aren’t many cases left like it anymore.

In years gone by, it was a tough case battle between the Griffin Survivor All Terrain Case and the Otterbox Defender Case. The Griffin Survivor All Terrain case is not available it has been replaced by the Griffin Survivor Extreme, which is not as tough a case.

This then leaves the Otterbox Defender, which has also evolved, the most significant change is the deletion of the in-built screen protector. The Defender case is now the screen less edition.

The Otterbox Defender is known for their quality. If you require a tough case that can take a serious beating then look no further than the Otterbox Defender. The company has its own Drop Standard and they test their cases so you be assured of quality.

But from our years of being case retailers, we have seen enough things happen to to iPhone’s when they are in an Defender case to know that they will protect your iPhone.

Defender Case

Otterbox Strada

Otterbox Strada case is a tough, wallet folio case. The newer versions that we have for the new iPhone models use more leather but previous models and we are glad for that. So the Otterbox Strada really has not changed from the previous versions.

The key feature of the Strada is its magnetic latch. This is small and easy to use with just one hand. And unlike other folio cases, the cover magnetically attaches on the back of the case.

This makes the Otterbox Strada a very likeable option for your iPhone.

Strada Case

Otterbox Symmetry and Otterbox Symmetry Clear

The Otterbox Symmetry was brought back by Otterbox for the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max models. Otterbox have made these cases thinner by removing the shock-absorbing TPU liner on the back of the case. They have also improved the buttons.

With this newly revised design, the Otterbox Symmetry has been very popular. The Symmetry Clear is one of the case options to look at if you are thinking about buying Apple’s clear case. The Symmetry has a similar scratch-resistant PC backing and this will show wear and tear more slowly than other cases that are on the market. The high gloss finish may improve the handling and looks of the case for some people.

If you are seeking a thin case you can’t go wrong with an Otterbox Symmetry case.

Symmetry Clear

Otterbox Commuter Series Case

The Commuter case uses Otterbox’s proven combination of a hard outer shell and a shock-absorbing inner layer.

The Otterbox Commuter Series of cases provide good levels of phone protection from drops and bumps. The case has textured sections on the sides that enhance grip, and port covers to keep dust and debris out of your iPhone.

Additionally the Commuter Series case has button covers that are easy to press. The screen is easily accessible with this case and there is a raised lip around it to prevent it from touching anything when the phone is placed face down.
